Meet the STEM jewels
Katharina Kraus Imbalance Ring

KATHARINA KRAUS

Our first STEM Jewel starts with a beautiful bang, by way of Katharina Kraus’s “Imbalance Ring”!

In the spirit of the scientific method, this one-of-a-kind jewel is an experimental investigation of the natural light reflection in gemstones - prasiolite, rock crystal and topaz. The highly technical stone cuts manipulate light effects by freely playing with angles, facets and updating traditional gemstone shapes. It’s a delicate exploration of fragility with the stones sitting free from its setting and elevated above the hand, so the wearer can play with light at different angles when wearing it.

“Imbalance Ring” is a 2018 finalist for the Deutscher Schmuck- und Edelsteinpreis Idar-Oberstein.

DAOU JEWELLERY

I revel in sharing this STEM Jewel by Daou Jewellery not only because it is inspired by science, but because the woman who designed it is a 3rd generation jeweler with post graduate & physics degrees!

Dalia’s Spark earrings in iolite set in white gold can be worn in any direction. The Spark pendant is designed with a bar suspension, so it can point up or down - especially powerful when multiple Sparks are layered together.

Conclusion: these jewels are exponentially epic to the nth power.

On the topic of epic, cheers to few more brilliant women in STEM who make it fun and accessible, while creating positive change in the world: @phd_fashionista @ScienceBeaut and @TheBumblingBiochemist!

Margherita Burgener How Many Stars Earrings

MARGHERITA BURGENER

Throughout time, we followed the stars find our way in the world. Today we can delight in following stars of another kind: women in STEM! Just a few of these women are: @ThatGirlAtNASA, @LeahTheChemist, @MeriameBerboucha.

In celebration of brilliant women doing brilliant things, Margherita Burgener’s “How Many Stars” diamond earrings rise to the occasion!

Emanuela's amazing bespoke jewels are handcrafted in her family's workshop in Valenza, Italy... which means you get to choose how many sparkling stars you would like in your epic universe!

VERDURA

In 1939, Verdura designed his “Night & Day” jewels as a tribute to his friend and composer, Cole Porter. Today, these pieces speak to me as beautiful tributes to the amazing women in STEM creating positive change in every corner of our world - for the benefit of EVERYONE!

Ornella Iannuzzi RockIt! Cage Bracelet

ORNELLA IANNUZZI

Our final STEM jewel by Ornella Iannuzzi has fierce chemistry! Ornella's avant-garde designs are inspired by nature. In the case of her “ROCK IT!” collection, it is the natural crystallization of precious stones. The golden dodecahedron “crystal” of this bracelet holds a sparkling black diamond sphere, paying homage to the idea that Nature is precious. I could not agree more!

Cheers to a few of the many brilliant women in STEM like @KathIntson @SusannaLHarris @Callie.Veelenturf who are contributing to positive change in our world. I very much look forward to more girls and women being part of solutions.

Kindly email Melissa with interest in these jewels!
