How to Buy a Jewelry Gift She Will Love and Wear

The very first step in the process of working with a fine jewelry concierge is sharing more about the recipient and any requirements you have in mind for the gift.
And the start of my client’s quest for the perfect birthday gift was no different. We had a fun Zoom call where I learned about her (the recipient), him, and their hilarious “meet cute”.
Being clearly smitten by her dynamic qualities, he was seeking a necklace that honored her artful spirit, fierce kindness, and natural beauty. It had to be pink and he kept saying two words: “hug” and “heart”.
One of our brilliant jewelry designers, Debra Navarro, immediately came to mind after he told me what he was looking for. So, I shared more about Debra and her designs (some of which are pictured below!)
Then, I specifically shared pink necklaces and pendants inspired by the women and men who mine Debra’s gemstones in East Africa.
At the end of our conversation, he was equally drawn to two different designs - one with a pink spinel, and the other a pink tourmaline. I suggested he sleep on it and in the middle of the night a vision (and his decision) came to him: the tourmaline looks like a heart, hugged in place by prongs... a “hug stone”!

Days later with the Pink Tourmaline Ibra Pendant on its way, I received a message from him:
“The cat’s out of the bag. She knows... I caved.”
He was so excited about his gift, that he couldn’t keep his happy secret… a secret!
The good news is we arranged for the necklace to be delivered to me, so that I could create a special video for her of the necklace and the story behind it. It remained secure in my hands, boxed with care for hand delivery just before her birthday. AND... a surprise I kept from him! Accompanying the necklace was a book with a personal message from Debra.
On her birthday, I was so thrilled to receive messages from them both.
