Zaha Hadid DJoya

Dame Zaha Hadid, "Queen of the curve",  is no longer with us, but her boundless, groundbreaking vision and unrelenting persistence in defying convention of all kinds remains inspiring and empowering.

We celebrate her with D'Joya's exceptional multi-layered pink sapphire earrings.

DAME ZAHA HADID - ARCHITECT

Today we celebrate the brilliant Power Woman, Dame Zaha Hadid, on her birthday. While the "Queen of the curve"  is no longer with us, her boundless, groundbreaking vision and unrelenting persistence in defying convention of all kinds remains inspiring and empowering.

In 2014, Zaha was the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize (other prestigious awards followed) and in 2015 was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II for "services to architecture".

Never one to be pigeonholed by gender or background: “As a woman in architecture, you’re always an outsider,” she told the Financial Times in 2015. “It’s okay, I like being on the edge.”

"TELA" SHELVING

Fluid formality, with swooping movement, freedom and curves are signatures of Zaha Hadid's work. An example is this elegantly elongated "Tela" shelving. While it is solid black granite, the cantilevered shelves are freely interwoven along parallel trajectories.
